The moment for Catholic radio in the United States seems to have finally arrived.
We have gone from seven Catholic stations only five years (1998) ago to over 60
as of July 2003. The Catholic Radio Association, a lay apostolate that helps other
lay apostolates establish stations in their home cities, expects there will be over
100 Catholic radio stations by the end of 2003. This fact speaks volumes about
the timing for Catholic radio.
Eternal Truth Broadcasting is humbled to be the instrument that God is using to
invite the Galveston-Houston Catholic community to be part of this great movement
in the Catholic Church.
The Holy Father has encouraged all Catholics to make strong use of the media in their evangelization of the Catholic faith. In addition, the Holy Father in one of his public addresses to the Catholic Media Association stated that:
"Radio may well be the most cost effective means of reaching large numbers of people who may not want to read or may lack exposure to Catholic publications, but will be willing to 'eavesdrop' on Catholic radio stations." (Pope John Paul II, addressing Catholic Media Association, 1997)
